Board of Adjustment case files - departmental copies, 1980-[ongoing].

The Board of Adjustment was established in 1935 to hear and consider claims for damages to persons or property made against the State of Alabama and its agencies, commissions, boards, institutions or departments (Ala. Code 41-9-60 [1975]). As legal advisor for the Dept. of Public Health, the Office of General Counsel is charged with the responsibilities of overseeing claims against the Dept. filed with the Board of Adjustment and representing the Dept. in each case. This series is composed of records created in the course of the Board of Adjustment claims process. Typical records found in these files include claim forms, notices of receipt of claim, memoranda, correspondence, and the Board of Adjustment orders.
